FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)
1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Because MS Excel functions are required)
- No, we don't provide MS Office inside DD (Win10 & Win11 Pro). All we provide is a DD VM and a Training room
- The Trainer(s) should prepare a free-trial account of MS Office for all delegates
- Otherwise they should use their own account for MS Office
2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?
- Yes, we've introduced a simple way to upload files from your own machine to the DD Desktop. One small limitation is that currently only one file can be transferred at a time. However, it's easy to make a zip or archive file with all the files you need that can then be easily copied across to your DaDesktop machine.
- If using a cloud storage system, please don't forget to log out from your cloud storage before cloning to all delegates
3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?
- If you're using the Chrome browser, please go to "chrome://settings/system" and turn off the hardware acceleration option.
4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?
- No, according to the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register, trainers are not permitted to access the wiki.
- If you want to send something to be edited on the NobleProg wiki, please copy and paste it into an email to the trainer (a PDF is also acceptable).
5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using a proxy or content/network filtering to ensure smooth operation?
Yes! Please whitelist any domains that follow this pattern:
- *.npg.io
-
https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.
6. How can I run multiple desktops when using DD, like for Ansible Training?
- Trainers can first configure DD settings (RAM, CPUs, and disk)
- Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to create multiple virtual machines, and set up networking between them
- Once the setup is complete, you can clone the environment to delegates in seconds
- If you need help, please contact DaDesktop Support
7. What is the server capacity?
- It depends on the server hardware
- For example, 512GB of RAM can be overcommitted to support up to 3 times the physical amount
- The maximum disk capacity per server is 250GB, with up to 16 CPU threads per desktop, and RAM configurations can be customised.
8. Can I download the video from the training recordings?
- Yes, you can now download recordings by clicking the three small dots to the right of the video player.
- The video includes audio if you've used the training room microphone.
9. Which browser should I use for DD?
- Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera work perfectly
- Other browsers like Internet Explorer are not fully supported
10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?
- Check your network connection, as DaDesktop's performance relies on your local connection speed.
- Check your server location: when the coordinator creates the desktop, they'll always choose a server close to the participants.
- Turn off your VPN, or switch it to PAC mode. Also, please disable any security applications, especially those that interfere with WebSocket connections, which are essential for DaDesktop to run smoothly.
11. WebSocket is blocked or not supported by the network
Accessing the remote desktop depends on WebSocket
- This could be your device blocking it. Check any settings/configurations that might block WebSocket. For example, on some Chromebooks, if the proxy setting "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is ticked, WebSocket won't work (because it sets the "SOCKS host" with a proxy). Untick that option and leave the "SOCKS host" field blank. This should resolve the issue.
- This could also be the network, rather than your device. You'll need to contact your network administrator to have WebSocket unblocked.
12. What GPU support do you offer, e.g., for 3D applications?
- Please see the GPU page for details on GPU support.
13. Are there any potential issues or solutions?
- Generally, using DaDesktop is just like any standard Windows or Linux machine, but there are a few minor issues you might encounter with specific software applications in a training environment, particularly when cloning machines.
14. Do you support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation?
- No, we do not provide support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, mainly due to licensing issues that often arise.
