Resizing the disk of a Fresh-Start desktop in a course

Where an existing Fresh-Start machine doesn't have enough disk space, it can be easily resized to add more disk space
  1. First, you must stop the Fresh-Start machine
  2. Then Clone & Resize to Standalone as below (create an organisation if you haven't already) Clone - Resize to Standalone Desktop
  3. At this step, increase the disk size as needed, and submit
  4. Visit the 'Standalones' link at the top of the page to find it and confirm it's there
  5. Head back to the course and remove the Fresh-Start machine using the 'Delete' button
  6. Click the 'Create Fresh-Start from my Standalone' button

  7. In this 'Create from Standalone' dialog, you can also opt to increase the disk size if you didn't do so in the earlier step

  8. Add an alias name if needed, then click the 'Create Desktop' button
  9. For Standard DaDesktop Linux and Windows OS templates, the OS will be automatically extended/grown. NB: AlmaLinux standard templates configure their default partitions differently, which requires additional manual steps as shown below.
  10. For Custom OS Templates, auto-extending the partition(s) may need to be done manually; the steps to follow are shown below.

 

For Custom OS Templates and Almalinux standard templates, please follow the steps below to extend partition(s)
  1. Follow the instructions to change your desktop partitions.

    - Open terminal/cmd 
    - Enter the commands below

    1.  Ubuntu & Debian
    Resize existing partition


    2.  Almalinux / CentOS
    CENTOS Resizing Partition wih LVM


    3. Windows 10 pro
    windows disk manager
    resize windows partition
